Start a Business with Little to No Initial Capital

Start a Business with Little to No Initial Capital

Release the Entrepreneur HeaderThere are an increasing number of individuals who aspire to own their own business. In fact, I would postulate that a significant amount of the American population has caught the entrepreneurial bug at some point in their life; however, the enthusiasm and excitement that normally come with being infected by this bug normally subsides rather quickly. The most prevalent reason that people allow their dream or vision of owning their own business to diminish so quickly is the postulation that they simply don’t have the capital to invest in a new business.

The truth is that there are numerous business endeavors that do require a substantial amount of capital in order to get the business up and running; however, there are multitudinous business opportunities that require little to no initial investment, especially when you start looking at online business opportunities.

The brief article will walk you through some of the options that you have at your disposal. You can also check out my book Earn $100 in 24 Hours Online to get some great ideas that you can implement immediately.

Things to Consider Regardless to the Route You Take

When analyzing different options in the business market, there are certain things that should be considered regardless of what direction you believe you are heading in. According to Chris Guillebeau, the author of The $100 Startup, in order to experience success when launching a business without a lot of capital, it is immensely important to give some serious consideration to your particular skill set and how you can use your skill set to help others.

Resell and Existing Product

Reselling existing products is one of the simplest ways to make money. There are a number of ways that this can be done. One of the most common ways of doing this is to open up an online retail business in which you promote products that are housed and shipped by another company. This is called drop shipping. There are some companies that will house the product and ship the product under your name. This gives the customer the impression that the merchandise is coming from you. Shopify has a great drop shipping guide that will walk you through the process of how to set up your business.

Affiliate marketing is also a powerful mechanism for making money without having to make an initial investment. There are step-by-step plans in Earn $100 in 24 Hours Online that explain everything that you need to know about affiliate marketing. Basically, affiliate marketing is the process of promoting other business’s services and products and then receiving a commission for every sale that you produce. There is almost an endless list of programs that offer affiliate programs, such as RapBank, Click Bank, Amazon and more. You can find products in any niche that you can possibly think of. There is even a niche for showing people how to build niches.

Selling Your Own Services

If you have a skill set such as writing, accounting or any value-rich service that people are willing to pay for, you can start your business with very little capital. In some cases, you can start without any capital, if you are willing to post ads in the online classifieds. However, I would recommend investing in an online presence, such as a website. A website provides immediate credibility, and it provides a conduit through which you can promote your business.

In order to build, promote and brand your business, there are certain things that you will need to learn, and there are plenty of online tools that will help minimize the learning curve. For instance, there will be a need to understand how to drive traffic to your website. What good is a website that is not getting any visitors? There are some great online eBooks that can help you out in this area. One book that does a good job helping with traffic is Instant Traffic Short Cuts. One of the biggest mistakes made by new business owners is failing to put in the time and effort to build solid and consistent traffic to their site. Instant Traffic Short Cuts will definitely help get you off to a great start.

Branding is Vital

Branding is an essential element to the building of any business, and the logo is one of the best places to start. A good logo is simple, but unique. It has the capacity to deliver the primary message of the business, and it should be recognizable at a glance. Hiring a graphic designer to create a logo can be expensive, but fortunately, there is a great resource called 5 Minute Logos, which allows you to create professional looking logos is a little as five minutes, without having to use Photoshop. What is good about this resource is that not only can you use it to create your own logo, but you can also use it as a side business opportunity, creating logos for others.

Building a Profitable and Responsive Email List

The one thing that has remained steady throughout the expansion and evolution of online enterprise is the effectiveness of email lists. A responsive email is priceless, and your ability to build a responsive and profitable email list is vital. One of the best resources available to show you how to successfully build a list that is capable of producing a six-figure income Kick-Ass List Building. This guide provides step by step instructions on how to build a list that you will be able to use over and over again to present products and services to your customers.

When it boils down to it, you can build an online business with little to no money; however, it is worth investing a small amount of capital in resources that will help to save you time. You can purchase how-to resources and build a site for a couple of hundred dollars easily, and once you get things going you can always upgrade the site and any other elements of the company that you wish to upgrade. When it comes to building a website or blog, I would personally suggest using WordPress. WordPress is easy to set up, and you can have your site up and running in less than an hour, if you already have the content.

Content is immensely important for the purpose of search engine optimization and customer engagement. You want to create content that is relevant to your target audience. If you are not up to the task of creating the content, my PR and Marketing firm, Odyssey Media Group will be more than happy to handle that for you at a very reasonable fee, simply email me at rickwallace@odyssey-mediagroup.com.

There are numerous other options that I will begin sharing in an upcoming post, such as blogging, freelance writing, CPA promotions and more. Until then, check out some of the opportunities mentioned here and get started. Remember, there are no perfect moments, you have to simply step out and take control. ~ Dr. Rick Wallace, Ph.D.

6 Ways To Achieve Any Goal

6 Ways To Achieve Any Goal

by Molly Cain | Courtesy of Forbes

Goal SettingRemember that one glorious night not too long ago when you were pumped full of champagne and big ideas? You promised yourself that this would be the year you accomplish <insert goal here>, and you resolved to make it happen. And then you shouted something inaudible above the crowd to your friends, kissed a random stranger and then danced the night away. Yep, that night.

It’s now time for a pulse check. How are you doing on <insert goal here>? Have you accomplished it? Are you at least on your way to accomplishing it? The year is about 25 percent complete by the way (pretend I said that in my most optimistic voice).

Let’s hypothetically say that you gave up on the goal you set for yourself. Or maybe you’ve since set more goals (the less vetted versions of these are called dreams) and now you’re sitting there wasting away doing nothing about them.

We set goals of all calibers for ourselves every single day (heck, this morning I set a goal to remember to eat breakfast). We’re not setting goals for our health (well, wait, some of you are), we’re setting goals because we want to become better versions of ourselves or we want to upgrade our life experiences. We have personally selected these milestones as a way to make it happen.

Affirmation Videos

There’s a reason you want to accomplish these things, so respect that desire and do something about it. You can turn this train around if you commit yourself to doing it. Here are six tricks that may help.

Look at it. A goal that you can actually see is massively more powerful than a goal you write down on a checklist. This is a favorite technique of mine and it works very well if you’re a visual learner.

Every year, a friend of mine spreads magazines all over her living room and invites her girlfriends over for a “vision board” party. Vision boards are comprised of pictures (from the magazines) that motivate the creator of that board. Want to lose weight? Cut out a pic of a bikini clad model (don’t pick a model that’s totally out of your league, be realistic). Want to make more money? Cut out a pic that speaks to you on that level. You get the idea.

These days, you can even hit the interwebs for a little vision board action. If you have a goal to become a better cook at home, you can visualize (and motivate yourself) much better if you throw a few attractive recipes up on your Pinterest board. Have a goal to make it to the next level in your career? Hit up Instagram and find someone who posts quotes all day long. Or visit sites like Muffin-Topless.com (awesome name, right?) for some fitness and health inspiration.

Tell people. I was perusing Facebook recently and stumbled on my friend Jennifer’s blog post. In it, she was announcing her intentions to change her world in a big way, getting in shape and becoming that healthy mom she’s always wanted to be. She was open with her goals and descriptive in what she was aiming to accomplish.

And you know what? I firmly believe she’s going to do it.

Making yourself accountable to your friends and family is one of the best ways to reach your goals. Sure, it’s uncomfortable to share your setbacks. But when you do, you’re going to get emails from friends who have experienced the same and they’ll get your mind back on track. And when you tell them about the milestones you reach, you’re going to get applause from people wishing they were you and reaching those same goals too.

When you tell people your goals, they will jump in the boat with you and help you get there. You will be shocked by the support you’ll get from your network. You’ll be even more surprised by the people who come out of the woodwork to join you in your journey or privately cheer you on, knowing what you’re going through.

And if you’re the masochistic, egotistical type, this tactic works wonders. Just think…you’ve told everyone you know that you’re heading out to accomplish this goal. If you don’t do it, there will be some embarrassment in it for you. Hey, whatever works!

Break it up. Many people abandon goals because they’re just too dang big. If you’ve done this to yourself, stop now. Change your game plan.

Take for instance the goal of becoming your own boss. It’s a noble goal, but if you’re a cubicle dweller, it’s a hefty one. So break it up into bite-sized chunks. Start by launching a side hustle (this girl has nearly perfected her side hustle) and see where that takes you. Select milestones to get there and make each of those a tiny goal. Perhaps a percentage of traffic increase on your website, or reaching a certain number of clients or bringing in a certain amount of revenue. Breaking your big goal into small ones will make jumping off the cliff of self-employment a much more feasible option for you.

You have long dreamt of vacationing in Rome, but you never seem to have the cash when it comes time to book it. No problem. Figure out how much it will cost you and start saving small increments of cash into an account you never look at. If you’ve calculated correctly (and I can’t help you there, I write for a living), you’ll have no trouble paying for the trip when it’s time to lock down your summer plans.

Some people may refer to this tactic as “creating a plan,” but I was trying not to go too Type A on you here. I have an image to keep up.

Set a date. One of the best ways to knock out a goal is to put it on your calendar. If you put a stake in the ground and impose a date on yourself, you’re much more likely to reach it.

Do you want to run your first marathon? That’s awesome, but it’s useless if you don’t even know which one, when or where. So before you buy those pretty pink shoes, join a running team or even get off the couch, I recommend you just suck it up and sign up for the actual race. Set a date for yourself so you have something to work toward (not to mention paying for something really throws some skin in the game).

One of my goals? To pet a whale. Yes, I’ve been waffling for more than two years on the decision to finally take that dream sea-kayaking, whale-watching journey. And I know, all I really need to do to knock this off my to-do’s is to actually book the trip. I’d say it’s time to eat my own dog food with that one.

Be realistic. I’m sure if I asked everyone here, you’d all be just as interested in magically obtaining a bazillion dollars or finding the cure for cancer as I would.  But there are some goals that are just too out of this world (although Elon Musk might actually reach his goal in this category). Simple but true…you’re more likely to reach goals that you realistically set for yourself.

Maybe you won’t become a body builder or a famous rail-thin model, but you can sure as heck lose some body fat and waltz around confidently in your favorite outfit in no time if you just put some elbow grease into it.

Don’t set yourself up for failure by letting your dreams get bigger than your abilities. That’s not to say don’t set hard goals for yourself, just make sure they’re attainable.

Commit to yourself. Last but not least, there’s only one person in this goal-setting process that matters. You. You’re the one who has to put the hours in at the gym. You’re the one who needs to stay late at the office to finish that task for your boss so you can score the promotion. You’re the only one receiving the paycheck that will eventually pay you out of credit card debt. It’s all on you, my friend. Commit to yourself and then re-commit yourself each time you fall (because that definitely happens along the way).

There’s a great quote out there that says, “It’s funny how day by day, nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.” One year from now, you’ll be one year older no matter what. What can you do with your goals today that will make looking back to today feel really different and really satisfying?

Powerful Methods for Using Private Label Rights (PLR) to Make Money

Powerful Methods for Using Private Label Rights (PLR) to Make Money

The expansive reach of the internet conjoined with the remarkably flexible dynamics of social media has presented an unparalleled opportunity for marketers to develop highly efficacious marketing platforms online. Whether marketers are promoting online businesses, brick and mortar operations or functioning as affiliate marketers, the opportunities are vast; however, creating effective online marketing campaigns require an exorbitant amount of content. Creating enough content can become a challenge for marketers. However, PLR content serves as a viable solution to the challenge.

For a marketer to be successful, they will need content for their website and blog, content to share on social media and web 2.0 sites as well as messages for their autoresponder series and more. There is a great chance that if you are an experienced marketer, you have sat down at your computer on multitudinous occasions with that empty look on your face as you pondered the thought of how you were going to generate enough content to meet your goals.

You have more than likely thought to yourself — there has to be a better way. Enter one of the most effective tools at the disposal of any online marketer — PLR content!

For any of you who may be a novice in the online marketing game, PLR stands for private label rights, which means that the original author is granting certain limited or unlimited rights for the purchaser to claim the content as their own — using it in any way that they see fit. The potential uses for PLR content are rather obvious to the marketer, especially the one who is suffering from a massive case of writer’s block.

This article will provide several methods that will allow you to use PLR content to market and earn money online. For a more comprehensive course on how to use PLR content, you should check out PLR Stripped Bare!

Building out Your Own Sites

Organic traffic is a significant contributor to a website’s customer base. Organic traffic is generated through web searches conducted through the major search engines, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. Anyone who is familiar with SEO understands that fresh and unique contact is a vital part of the process of getting the major search engines to rank your site higher than your competitors. However, having the capacity to stay on top of a regular publishing schedule can become quite tedious, making PLR content a life saver. There is PLR content available in almost every niche imaginable, from online marketing to scrapbooking. This makes it easy to find content that you will be able to modify and post to your affiliate marketing machine.

PLR Works Great for Backlinking

For the marketer that is focusing on affiliate marketing that uses SEO or certain promotional techniques that require a high-level of content, PLR has the capacity to help you generate the text that will be necessary to populate these sites in a rapid manner that cannot be accomplished through writing them all on your own. Proper Backlinking strategies definitely require an exceptional amount of content.

Create Professional Looking Logos in 5 Minutes!

It is paramount to understand that the fact that PLR is available to the masses, the chances are rather high that you will not be the only person who has access to a piece of content — meaning that you will need to ensure that the content is modified in a manner that will be sufficient enough to render it unique. This is especially important for sites such as Ezinearticles and HubPages.com.

For those of you who feel that modifying or rewriting the content may be more trouble than it is worth, the key is understanding that you don’t have to rewrite the content yourself. There are plenty of freelance sites online with writers that will rewrite content for pennies on the dollar.

One method of using PLR that does not call for a significant amount of modification is when the content will be used as a part of your autoresponder or email content lineup. Because there will be no search engine ranking, there is no need for highly unique content; however, you will still want to ensure that the content is ideal for your audience. A great resource to use to learn more about the power of email marketing is Kick Ass List Building! If you have not started building your email list, you are literally leaving money on the table in a substantial way.

Developing Your Own Product

One of the top methods for earning money online in the affiliate marketing niche is to create your own info products. As you can imagine, creating your own info-product is much easier to say than it is to do. For instance, writing an entire eBook can be considerably time consuming. There is the process of conceptualizing the general theme, research, creating the outline and more. This is one area where outsourcing is not a good idea for two primary reasons: a good writer will be expensive and they may decide to take your idea for themselves.

There is no shortage of PLR eBooks that are available for purchase for as cheap as a couple of bucks, meaning that you can have your own product up and ready to go within a couple of hours. Another option that you have is to string together multiple PLR articles to develop a detailed report.

For a person like myself, PLR content is limited due to my specific writing style and area of expertise; however, I use it to help me fight writer’s block. PLR content is a great source for developing ideas for your next white paper or book. The key is to understand that for the amount of content that you can get is the average PLR bundle, it simply behooves you to invest in it and archive it until you need it. A Jack and a Master of all Trades: Mastering the Business Mindset

A Jack and a Master of all Trades: Mastering the Business Mindset

Change-Your-Mindset

There is an old adage that says, “I am a jack of all trades, but a master of none.” It is implicit that a person who engages multiple fields of interests does not have the time to master any particular one. There are a significant number of people who frown upon the “jack,” viewing him as a person who has no area of expertise; however, I would argue that it is possible to not only be a jack of multiple disciplines, but to also master them. Unfortunately, the mindset of the masses has served to limit the parameters of expertise to that which their limited perspicacity is capable of apprehending.

A person is either limited or liberated by their primary paradigm, the lens through which they view life. For the person who believes they have boundaries, they will have boundaries, even if they are self-imposed; however, that person who believes that there is nothing that is beyond their grasp will find a way to achieve all that they aspire to do.

Elevation and Empowerment2

Today, I was contacted by a new client that wanted me to create a job proposal, which was actually more of a project proposal that could land him a position with a multi-million dollar company. At current, he is a licensed real estate broker in California who impressed the vice president of this company while showing him a commercial property. The VP inquired to whether this gentleman was interested in a position within their company where he would be responsible for a number of tasks, including establishing two new divisions — a real estate and lending division.

Beyond the Scope of Existing Expertise

This person forwarded over all of the information necessary for me to create the proposal. It was not long before I discovered that this person was not qualified for the position in which he was applying, at least not in the traditional sense. He had never taken on a job of this magnitude. He is, in essence, seeking to transition from an entrepreneurial role in which he nets $240,000 annually to running two company divisions that provides him with access to a $10 million budget.

On the surface, it looks as though this person is getting in way over his head; however, a closer look reveals that he understands the importance of tapping into collateral resources and the delegation of responsibilities.

Never Say I Can’t

This reminded me of when I first entered into the international relocation business. A friend approached me and asked me if I knew anything about expatriating company executives. He said that he knew a company that was looking for a relocation specialist. I told him that I did not have the experience, but I knew that I could do it. He had conducted numerous business endeavors with me and knew that if I said that I could, I would. So he vouched for me to have an interview with the company.

Within a week, I was sitting in front of the company’s vice president and general manager. They were a little baffled at the fact that I was sitting in front of them with no experience, but they were about to come face to face with another one of my areas of expertise — the ability to close deals. By the end of the interview I had convinced them to allow me to take on the role of a relocation specialist. This was not as difficult as it may seem because the company required all contractors to go through a training process. I was sent to Toronto, Ontario for two weeks for the initial training, then I had to spend the first 90 days in their office working with their operations and administration managers.

Develop the Willpower to Succeed!

Being an entrepreneur with successful businesses in operation, I did not like the fact of reporting to an office; however, the financial benefits conjoined with the experience I gained, made it worthwhile.

Within the first year, I was managing the expatriation and repatriation of several of the company’s top accounts, including Baker Hughes, EDS and Flour Daniels. I would ultimately play an integral role in the company securing its largest account to date — Unocal. In fact, I was the person that was responsible for repatriating all of Enron’s expatriates after the collapse. That was an interesting time for me. I learned so much outside of the scope of relocation and expatriation.

In essence, my responsibilities as a relocation specialist were quite broad. I arranged every aspect of the expatriation and repatriation process, including the packing, storing and shipping of household goods from the point of origin to the point of destination by both, air and sea. I had to develop relationships with destination agents on the other end to complete the process on my behalf. I also had to develop relationship with shipping companies and customs brokers. I was responsible for cross-cultural training and arranging home finding expeditions, and more.

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

What I want to get you to understand is that none of this would have been possible if had not been willing to engage something I did not yet understand — causing me to step out of my comfort zone. I have been criticized by some who say that I have an identity crisis, and I don’t know who I am. I don’t waste my time responding to those assertions, it is not worth my time. I refuse to become engrossed in the random opinions of the minimal minded. My desire to know drives me. I understand the importance of connecting with people who know how to do things that I don’t; however, if I am around them long enough, I will learn what they know. That is how I am built. I refuse to only be a jack of all trades, I have determined to master them as well.

It is important to understand that you write your story. It is you that determines your destiny. Stop allowing people who have given up on their dreams to talk you out of yours. Embrace the challenges and expand your capacity and horizon. Live life at the level of your design. ~ Dr. Rick Wallace, Ph.D.

Strengthen Your Willpower and Self-Discipline

Strengthen Your Willpower and Self-Discipline

willpowerThere is no questioning the fact that willpower and self-discipline are vital elements in the life of any person that is looking to make success a constant in their life. In order to create a lucid flow within this article, I will use these two terms interchangeably from this point. Willpower plays an immense role in determining the levels of success that people will experience in life, whether at work, home, in relationships and more. Willpower should be viewed as the massive force that provides the impetus and perseverance to accomplish even the most difficult tasks.

Unfortunately, although the vast majority of individuals in the world are aware of the fact that self-discipline is necessary to achieve any consistent level of success, very few actually take the necessary steps to develop and strengthen willpower. According to the annual Stress in America survey, conducted by the American Psychological Association, the No. 1 reason people give for failing to reach their goals is the lack of willpower. This proves that people are aware of the importance of willpower; however, rarely will you find an individual committing themselves to undertaking the process of developing their willpower.

Willpower is an asset that you can view as a skill or spiritual muscle. I tend to view things from a spiritual context, so I view willpower as much more than a simple skill. I envision willpower as a spiritual muscle that must be developed and then strengthened through use.

Investing in Your Inner Strength

84 Personal Development ReportsIncreasing willpower takes on a similar process for developing and strengthening the body. In order to achieve optimal results, the training must be intense and it must be consistent. You will only get out of the process what you put into it. This is another area where a number of people fail. They take a lackadaisical or apathetic approach to the process of building their willpower. Subsequently, they train themselves to embrace mediocrity through practice. It is not what you say you want that matters, it is what you are willing to do in order to achieve what you want that will determine the final outcome.

In order to produce efficacious results during the process of developing willpower, it must be constantly in use. This is not a force that you can pick up and put down. Despite popular opinion, willpower cannot be effectively compartmentalized without diminishing its strength and impact. In essence, the question that each person must be willing to ask themselves is how far they are willing to go to grow. It will require a significant amount of sacrifice.

The problem with the vast majority of individuals in today’s culture is that they want something for nothing. Many make the erroneous postulation that they can simply wish their way through life, subsequently finding only periodic pockets of success that they actually have no control over. One must be willing to sacrifice pleasure and comfort to develop willpower, because willpower represents the very notion of that which is uncomfortable. A person does not need willpower to carry out that which is comfortable or easy.

The Beginning of Mastery

Like anything else, building exceptional willpower begins with exercising willpower over small situations which are within the parameters of what should be considered manageable. As willpower is developed, the issues to which it can be applied will be intensified. Willpower functions in a manner that is antithetical to capricious behavior. It responds decisively, and without delay. It serves as the guarder or character and integrity. Willpower is diametrically opposed to submissive behavior in which a person gives in to temptations and distractions. Authentic willpower is both, audacious and unforgiving. There are no exceptions when it comes to willpower. What is required is executed; no excuses.

The Common Misconception

There is a common misconception that willpower is something that a person is born with; you either have it or you don’t; however, that could not be further from the truth. Willpower is not an inherent trait. It is the totality of asserting self-discipline that is the result of a force that is developed and cultivated through practical application. A person cannot conjure it, nor can they obtain it through osmosis. It takes work, and focus.

I developed the “Developing Willpower 101” course because of the multitudinous individuals who sit in my counseling sessions on a regular basis staring at a history of failure that is inextricably bound to their lack of willpower. I realized that very few people have any idea of what it takes to develop and strengthen willpower. This training series provides you with video that can be revisited as often as necessary until a principle has been mastered. The process is not complex, but the execution of the plan requires commitment.

If you desire to live your life at the level of your design; overcoming the obstacles that are set in your way to achieve the greatest heights associated with your destiny, I encourage you to take this course. It could be the beginning of something great in your life! ~ Dr. Rick Wallace, Ph.D.

Raise Your Level of Living (Tyrese Gibson)

Tyrese Gibson
Live Life to the Fullest

I love the points that Tyrese makes in this video. They are straight forward and extremely powerful. The simplistic point made in this message is that we need to raise our level of living. I speak on this continually when I speak of living at the level of our design. I love when he says, “I learned to dream with my eyes open.” That is so powerful. There are many with dreams that are idle or incapacitated because they are dreaming with their eyes closed. They have an idea of who they are and where they want to go, but their eyes are closed so they miss opportunities and they are easily misled.

Another key element to next level living is a passion to impact the lives of others. It is not simply about achieving, but using your success to be a positive influence in the lives of others. When you live to touch the lives of others, you find that your vision opens up and your path becomes clearer. This does not mean that it becomes easier, but there is less clutter and uncertainty.

I encourage each one of you to dare to live at the level of your design. ~ Dr. Rick Wallace

A Soul Mate Defined

I was approached with a question some time ago. I was asked somewhat matter-of-factly: How would you define the term “soul mate?” After giving it some assiduous consideration, I decided that it was something that should not be addressed in one single statement. It was a topic deserving of my time and energy.  So I have endeavored to bring lucidity to the term soul mate. This term, with its simplistic, yet profound essence has been tossed about in the arena of commonality far too long. It has been falsely applied and Soul Mate 2erroneously conceptualized through the ambiguous lens of secular paradigms.

Soul mate, to most, is a term of relative meaning. To each individual, this term carries a different weight and connotes a different adumbration or meaning. To apprehend a general understanding and description of a soul mate, one must first have at least a minimal perspicacity of the soul.

Meriam-Webster defines the soul as the animating and vital principle in the human being, credited with the faculties of thought, action, and emotion; the spiritual nature of the human being.

From a theological perspective — the way we must view the human soul in relationship to God — the human soul is that rational, immaterial aspect of mankind composed of self-consciousness, mentality, volition, and conscience. So, in simplifying the equation, we can say that the soul consists of the mind, will, and emotions of an individual, and therefore is the centrality of the human existence. The soul is the guiding force behind the dynamic function in every human life. The heart, in its immaterial nature, is considered to be the deepest recess of the soul, and therefore what the heart perceives to be real becomes reality. As a man thinks in his heart so is he. How you think shapes your reality. It is important that we give serious consideration to this particular truth if we are to truly understand the possibilities, potential and probability associated with the term “soul mate.”

In light of this succinct definition and description of the soul, we must first conclude that a soul mate is someone whose soul is intrinsically compatible with the soul of another — distinctly different than personality-compatibility. By this, I mean that without forced effort or dissipated personality, a person’s soul merges with that of another. In effect, at the point of physical consummation the two merge into one (Gen. 2:24), however, this merger emanates in the centrality of their being, their soul. Notice, not once have I stated Soul Mateor implied that a soul mate is perfect or even meets some cultural standard or ideology.

A person is connected to their soul mate emotionally, intellectually, and physically and they are unified in purpose and direction. A soul mate is that person you wake up to in the morning, and as you gaze into their eyes you see God’s love for you in the intricate details of their facial features; knowing that He created that person solely and specifically for you. Because a soul mate exists in hypostatic union with one’s self, there are no fallacious desires to harm or deceive. Because two have ultimately become one, there can be no hostile action taken in relation to one’s soul mate. A soul mate is God’s greatest expression of his Love and Providence.

After years of observation, I also believe that a soul mate is self-authenticating and self-identifying. What I mean by this is that when you meet your soul mate you can sense something is different than any other time or any other person. They seem to settle your spirit, even at a distance. They know the words to speak and when to simply listen. They seem to have an internal affinity for your core identity. You are connected for beyond what external perception is capable of perceiving.

When I counsel people concerning relationships, the biggest challenge that I see for

people finding their soul mate is erroneous expectations. They have allowed the world to tell them what they should expect instead allow the soul spirit that is within to detect the unity, respect, honor, and integrity that lies at the very core of what stands before them.

Too many look for the perfect situation and all of the right qualifications without ever considering the fact that God designed the marriage as the platform for ultimate consummation and elevation (i.e. He is not where he should be yet because his greatest accomplishment requires the life-giving passion of his soulmate or help meet.) My advice — don’t pass up your soul mate looking Mr. or Mrs. Right. Look for the one who connects with you are the deepest level. There is a difference. Everything else will be worked out through trial and error. There are no perfect relationships. ~ Dr. Rick Wallace
